Youth Ministry

Growing together.

Whoever you are, wherever you're from, you are welcome here.

Humans all share two life purposes: Praising God and Loving Others. As a youth ministry, our leaders share a passion to help teenagers see their purposes in life at an early age. In a world filled with evil and darkness, our focus is to bring the Gospel message of Jesus Christ to students and show them that we do have hope in this life and the next.

Youth Pastor

Derek Ambroson

Originally from Newton, IA, Derek moved up to Roseville, MN in 2012 to attend the University of Northwestern, St. Paul and has been here ever since.  Derek is the Student Pastor, meaning he oversees all ministry functions involving kids from 6th grade to college.  He specifically works within the youth ministry on a weekly basis.

Initially,  Derek didn't want to be in ministry.  He was more interested in working in sports recruiting.  After a lot of biblical discipleship and an increased study of God's Word, he felt God calling him to take over the student ministry at RBC.  As he read into God's Word more, he felt Psalm 37:4 really speaking to him, which says, "Delight yourself in the Lord, and He will give you the desires of your heart."  Derek felt that God was changing his heart during this time from something he didn't want to do to something he couldn't stay away from.  Praise the Lord for that!
Derek (or DA as the youth refer to him as) prays that the people, specifically the youth, will open their hearts to hear from God.  He prays that the students will ask tough questions, challenge ideas, and come to a knowledge of Jesus because THEY want to, not just because he or their parents tell them it's best for them.  Few things bring him greater joy than seeing a student he's prayed for understand the sacrifice Jesus made for them and how that can give them eternal hope in a dark world.

Derek and his wonderful wife Alexxis (who also helps with the Youth Ministry) have been married since August 2016.  They have three little girls, Zoe, Kyla, and Harper, and love being a part of the church!
